About 40% of individuals 65 years or older experience changes in memory function.1 A healthy brain functions across multiple areas, including thinking, learning, decision-making, managing stress, balancing emotions, and making and retrieving memories.
However, as we age, our brain’s capacity to adjust to changes and the mental demands of our daily lives naturally declines, and we start to fumble with words, mix up names, misplace keys, or misremember events (such as recent conversations).
But it’s never too early to be proactive about brain health. Ultra Memory & Recall™ is designed to support short- and long-term (episodic) memory, promote learning and support overall brain health.
Verbal short- and long-term memory support
In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled group study involving 100 healthy adults (ages 40 to 65), participants taking Nutricog®, the botanical blend in Ultra Memory & Recall™, reported positive changes in short-term and long-term (episodic) memory, assessed by a widely used assessment that evaluates memory, learning, and retention. In that same study, positive changes were found in cognitive function, and in serum brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) levels.2
Short-term memory
Immediate recall (short-term memory): Subjects were read a list of 15 words at a rate of 1 word per second and were asked to immediately recall as many words as they could. Participants taking Nutricog® remembered an average of 1 more word than the placebo group.2
Total learning: The Nutricog® group remembered about 10 more words than the placebo group across five different trials.2
Brain-derived neurotrophic factor: Participants in the Nutricog® group had increased levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF).2 BDNF is a protein that supports the health and function of neurons. It plays a crucial role in maintaining brain health.3
Long-term memory
Delayed recall: Following a 20-minute delay, the Nutricog® group remembered, on average, 4 more words than the placebo group.2
Long-term memory (episodic memory): From a list of 50 words, the Nutricog® group recalled, on average, 5 more words than the placebo group.2
Visual working memory
In a double-blind, placebo-controlled study of healthy adults, participants taking cognitaven®, a standardized green oat extract in Ultra Memory & Recall™, reported positive changes in visual and spatial working memory, as evaluated by a classical neuropsychological test designed to evaluate visuospatial working memory and spatial attention.4
